Job Description
Contract length: 6 month contract, with a possibility
of an extension, but not guaranteed.
Travel: 10%
Location: This position will be based in Columbus,
Georgia
Job Summary:
With a developing entrepreneurial and strategic approach,
leads and manages medium to large-scale projects classified as small or
standard endeavors; operates in a matrixed environment with responsibility to
the business units and specified IT management; assists business units with the
requirements phase to define and identify the scope of the projects; reports to
specified IT management during projects to execute the technical project
delivery from requirements through warranty support. As a servant leader
ensures agile values and principles are understood and enacted by the agile
teams. Trains and coaches the agile teams on agile values, principles,
practices, frameworks and tools. Helps the teams to continuously improve their
performance and increase business agility.
Principal Duties Responsibilities:

Manages one or more medium to large-size moderately complex
projects that may be transformational and strategic in nature, including
project design, development, implementation, and staffing requirements
·
Assesses variances from the project plan, gathers metrics,
and develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project
remains within specified scope, time, cost and quality objectives, and further
defines project requirements and schedules
·
Develops methods, procedures, and quality objectives, including
metrics for assessing progress; uses established project standards, procedures,
and quality objectives, sometimes with assistance
·
Provides the technical project team with constructive
feedback pertaining to project performance
·
Establishes and maintains a productive working relationship
with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients
·
Provides work direction and general technical project
management to assigned projects, including scheduling, work assignments, and
reviews project efforts to ensure the project meets technical specifications as
outlined in the conceptual and detail design documents
·
Monitors project milestones, technical status and critical
dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule; identifies ways to
resolve schedule issues and keeps management aware of the situation
·
Coaches or mentors less-experienced employees and provides
technical assistance as required
·
Conducts project kickoff meetings, communicates individual
roles and project expectations and ensures that all project team members have
the tools and training required to perform effectively
·
Conducts formal review with business sponsor at project
completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction
·
Train, coach and mentor one or more teams to embrace agile
values and principles
·
Train and coach the teams on all aspects of planning and
execution including vision, release roadmap, user story creation, story
mapping, release planning, sprint events, progress monitoring and continuous
improvement
·
Help the teams to focus on sprint and release goals and
delivery commitments and help to solve team impediments as well as protect the
team from external interferences
·
Interface with other agile teams and the rest of the
organization to manage dependencies and coach other agile teams, program level
and portfolio level teams as needed
·
Constantly strive to improve the teams’ performance
·
Define and roll out agile metrics and assist with the
identification, collection and reporting on metrics and make recommendation for
improvements to respective stakeholders across the enterprise.
·
Provide visibility to the stakeholders by defining and
implementing information radiators. Define metrics, identify and collect
data and report metrics and status to stakeholders periodically and as needed
·
Provide guidance on achieving higher levels of agile
maturity while complying with defined Agile Core Principles and enterprise
frameworks
·
Provide feedback from teams’ retrospectives to the
Enterprise Agility Office for improvement
· Performs
other duties as required
Education Experience:
· Bachelor’s
degree and at least seven years of relevant professional experience with at
least six years of demonstrated project management experience. Master’s degree
(preferred)
· Certified
Project Management Professional and or Certified Scrum Master certification
(preferred)
· Demonstrated
experience and knowledge of system development life cycle, dynamics of software
development projects, IT practices and methods
· Demonstrated
experience and knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodology of
Agile and Waterfall project management, quality management, and change
management
